Support Grant Frequently Asked Questions

Businesses across B&NES have been applying for funding through various grants schemes in light of their business being adversely impacted by restrictions to control the spread of Covid-19. The Covid19 Grants Team in Bath and North East Council have received a high number of Covid19 Business Grants applications and they are being administered as quickly as possible. The Invest in Bath business support service is helping to co-ordinate and support local businesses by accessing multiple avenues of support in light of the COVID-19 public health situation.  

We are currently experiencing a very high volume of queries and these FAQs are set to assist businesses who are waiting or have a query about grant payments.

Can I ask for an update on my business grant?

Yes, you can email the Covid19 grants team: Covid19_Grants@bathnes.gov.uk

However, please note that replying to individual requests takes time away from grant assessments and delays the process further so please help us by limiting the number of emails you send.

What can I do if I have made a mistake on my grant application?

If you have made a mistake, please email the Covid19 Grants Team with your reference number stating the error and supply the correct information or attach documentation.

Can I apply for a Restart Grant?

From April 1 2021 the Business Restart Grant is available to help businesses as national restrictions are eased and they reopen for business. See Restart eligibilty here.

Do I need to apply again?

If you were eligible for a LRSG (Closed) Addendum payment during national restrictions, we will contact you shortly regarding payment of the Restart Grant.

If I havent recieved help, can I apply for the Restart Grant?

If you meet the eligibility criteria (see here) and have not previously applied for the Local Restrictions Support Grant, you can apply for the Restart Grant using our online form. When you make a new application we will also consider your eligibility for any other grants, and will pay them to you if you are eligible.

What can I do if I haven’t received a response?

If you have received a reference number beginning with CV please know that your application is in the system and will be processed in due course. A delay may have been caused by missing information or eligibility checks. The assessment team will contact you if they need additional information. You can also take this time to reflect on your business and take the Invest in Bath team up on some of the funded support available to help diversify and progress your business or upskill you or your staff.

What support is available for my workforce?

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is a programme developed to upskill employees within small and medium-sized businesses. SSW is co-financed by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and the European Social Fund. This means you can access a wide range of training at no cost to your business; subject to eligibility.

Kickstart is a national scheme that supports your business to provide a high quality 6-month work placements aimed at those aged 16-24 who are on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. For each new job created, funding is available for 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours per week, plus the associated National Insurance contributions and start-up costs.

Can I receive any funded skills support?

Yes, fully funded support for start-ups and SME’s can be accessed through Cool Ventures have a range of training workshops and one-to-one sessions to cater for your individual business needs.

Future Bright offers free training and support to develop individual skills and increase pay. Future Bright can help you to break down your goals into an action plan so that you can start making positive change and progress right away.
